Past paper(june2016) why did Zia find it difficult to rule Pakistan in the late 1980s?

Ans :- Zia took control of Pakistan on 5th July 1977. Zia finds difficulties to rile Pakistan because of several reasons. (L1 and L2 complete ). Firstly, Although the Afghan War had brought economic advantages for Pak it also got many issues of drugs and weapons in the country. Pakistan became one of the leading countries in drug trafficking. Everywhere violence and blasts became common. That's why Zia find it difficult to rule Pak in the late 1980s. Secondly, There was also a gap between the provinces. Punjab showed it's supremacy on others. Sindh had become ungovernable. NWFP became so violent due to migrants and drugs. Balochistan had become peaceful after the end of the uprising but still, there were many anti-govt groups. So because of this Zia find it difficult to rule Pakistan in late 1980s. Thirdly, Orji camp was an ammunition depot situated in between Rawalpindi and Islamabad. On 10th April 1988 the twin cities received an unexpected heavy shower of weapons, which included Missiles, rockets , bombs and other highly lethal explosive devices. The blast jolted the entire area. The blast caused great panic and heavy loss of life and property. That's is why Zia find it difficult to rule Pakistan in late 198os.  ( I have not done paragraphing but you have to do it ).                                                                                                                                                                                                                                       Q2  past paper (June 2011) Why did Zia introduce his package of Islamic laws between 1979 and 1988?                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            Ans:- Zia took control of Pak on 5th July 1977. Zia introduces several Islamic laws because of several reasons. ( L1 and L2 done). Firstly Bhutto had attempted to introduce socialist measures into Pak. Zia thought that Islam would provide an excellent counter-ideology to Bhutto's beliefs. Moreover, the introduction of Islamic measures would win support if Islamic parties such as Jamat-e-Islami which was influenced in both administration and army .so because of this Zia introduce Islamic laws. Secondly, the Hudood ordinance was introduced into the country in 1977. According to which different punishments we're prescribed to various crimes. So Zia introduces Islamic laws to control crime rates. Thirdly, In June 1980 the zakat ordinance imposed 2•5% wealth tax on savings over a certain amount. This was a wealth tax in keeping with Islamic principles. The money raised was given to the zakat committee in villages and towns to meet the needs of the needy. Therefore Zia introduces Islamic laws to establish an Islamic environment in which everyone cares for other Muslims.
